With the help of Jennik and 52merk, this light has been identified as the Grand Island East Channel Light near Munising, MI. It was built, according to 52merk in 1868 and abandoned more than a 100 years ago. For more info check this link provided by 52merk.

Philadelphia: PRR Steam Plant Implosion

Made the early morning trek up to Philly to see this go down. I got there about an hour before it went down and staked out a spot. I was the first person on the block but even minutes after I got there people began to pour into the streets. I got a better spot for my video camera than even the lady from Controlled Demolition International (the people bringing down the stack) did. She was probably pissed. They did a poor job of giving people a signal when this was going to go down. The news said 7:30. Than the CDI lady said 7:45. It actually went down around 7:47. They usually let off a siren or something when it is about to happen but they didn't do anything. My video camera was acting up about 6 seconds before this happened and thankfully it started filming right at this second. I didn't even have to edit this video at all. It was perfect timing...
While I was waiting I saw something that looked like a giant rat go under this Jeep. Some people and I walked over to take a look. We saw it was an opossum. Later on the opossum walked across the street through the crowd of people and dug under the fence and started walking towards the implosion. I don't think he even made it to the tracks but wherever he was I'm sure he got a rude awakening.

Here has visited one more thrown school. Certainly some can not like a state, in comparison with last is worse... But also in this there is a snap. Any autumn spirit when you look out of a beaten window and you see orange-red trees and when so the sun beautifully sits down... Much all school, any figures, posters, a heap of school desks, chairs, sports hall and many other things in this report.

Hi all!
Here some pics from a glass factory near Cuneo.
It closed down in the early 80's..Huge place in the heart of town.
People there say it might be demolished pretty soon....

If this is not appropriate, I will hastily delete. I don't have much opportunity to explore abandoned places, but I really enjoy all of the wonderful photos the members of this community have posted.
I was wondering, for any of you members in and around Philly, if anyone happened to catch the implosion of the Philly PRR steam plant yesterday? I was hoping to find a video of it or something but haven't had any luck.
Thank you in advance!
And here is a very small contribution (like I said, I don't have much opportunity to explore abandoned places...which sucks!), just so this isn't text-only.
This is a house I pass on the bike path I ride on. I've been trying to summon up the courage to get a bit closer, but it's kind of out in the open and since I'm usually alone on my bike trips, haven't been brave enough.

It's unfortunate that LiveJournal and this community didn't exist in the mid-90s. On the street I grew up on in rural South Jersey there was an abandoned house. The first couple of years we lived there, it was inhabited by a reclusive older man who had apparently lived there for a very long time. One day in 1995 he just up and left...practically disappeared. My brothers, our neighbors and I would explore the house. It was pretty crazy, the house seemed to be stuck in time. It was decorated in that 60s-70s style of orange, green, and yellow, and had a retro TV and kitchen appliances. Even older spice bottles from maybe the 70s. The man had literally left pretty much everything in the house...we found old phone books, bills, letters, postcards, and church bulletins. There was even an old car in the garage in the back yard. I'm not sure if the car ran, but someone stole it, somehow. The neighborhood kids (myself included) pretty much destroyed the house, which I regretted for a long time. My best friend's brother and his friends turned it into a home base for playing paintball, since the house was surrounded by woods.
They tore down the house several years ago to develop the land, which was pretty sad. My stepmother, around 1996 or 97, even attempted to contact someone to find out about buying the house, but never got a response.

Sunday, November 8
In terms of sightseeing, Sunday was a bust. We ate breakfast at the hotel. It was pretty bad- tea and coffee, toast and some soup thing. I was able to eat 2 pieces of toast. We wandered around in the Meiji shrine park in Harujuku for maybe an hour or so. We had to go back to the hotel because I wasn't feeling well. ~_~ I spent the majority of the day in bed, reading Dead In Dallas and watching Eureka, season 3.
Brenna and Micah came by for dinner, which was fantastic. I ate a tiny tiny bit of rice and miso soup. At least I kept it down! Earlier, Jeff had gotten me some stomach pain medication, gatorade, and a banana. I ate the banana, no problems. Anyways, we didn't stay out long. We talked in our hotel room for a while, mostly about nerdy things. :) I think I went to bed around 8pm, not sure. Brenna, Micah and Jeff went downstairs to wander around Ikebukuro and drink beer haha. It sounded like it was a lot of fun!
Brenna got me a cherry blossom cookie cutter!!!! It is super cute. I cannot wait to make cookies with it. I already have a batch of dough in the freezer, so I can make an assortment of Christmas, random (like the pineapple and elephant) and cherry blossom cookies when I return.

Today is our last day in Tokyo!!! I have barely seen anything, but it happens. We really wanted to see the fish market. Next visit, I guess. I also missed the cosplayers in Harujuku, due to laying in bed. I think I am better for real today! We are going to visit Micah and Brenna's apartment this morning. Our next city is Matsumoto!
As you can probably tell, Micah and Brenna are awesome. Hanging out with them has been a major highlight of Tokyo. Without them, being sick would have overshadowed everything.

We are in Tokyo!
Thursday, November 4
We didn't do much after we got into Narita. Our ryokan was super cute. The staff was very nice. It's really hard not speaking Japanese lol.
Friday, November 5
We had a Japanese style breakfast. It was good, but I don't think Jeff liked it very much. We spent part of the morning at the temple in Narita. It was beautiful! The grounds were huge, at least to me.
Getting into Tokyo was a little hard. Again, problems with not speaking the language. We figured it out eventually, and made it to our hotel in Ikebukuro safe and sound. Brenna took us to her favorite miso ramen place. It was delicious. Sadly, this was the last full meal I ate until today (assuming I eat a full breakfast after I write this). I got sick, but more on that later. Brenna is awesome!!! I love meeting HPott online friends in person. Some of the best people ever. She went with us to Akiba (electric town). Jeff wanted to see all the electronics. It was crazy what they sold! It was like stall after stall of radio shack type materials.
It was great having Brenna walk with us. She took us into the craziest drugstore/convenience store called Don Quixote. It had very low celings, multiple floors, and was packed with stuff!!
We met up with Micah, Brenna's husband, in Ikebukuro that night. We went to a restaurant that sells lots of little dishes- everything was 300 yen. I barely ate. It was so so much fun. Micah is hilarious. I wish I felt better, but oh well. I called it quits early and we went back to the hotel.
Saturday, November 5
Will write more later, but I spent the afternoon napping. I was up for maybe an hour in the evening, and then crashed till midnight, then till 5:30am today. We went to Sunshine City in the morning. We went up to the 60th floor, which had lots of cool views! Sadly it was very hazy, so we couldn't see Mt. Fuji. Tokyo is enormous!!
We went to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace later. It was so-so. There were some very interesting koi lol. It was relaxing, I'll give it that. We walked around Ginza afterwards, trying to find this udon shop. Didn't work, so we ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant. I heard the newest Adam Lambert song!! Crazy! :) I didn't eat much, but Jeff had some great noodles.
Sunday, November 7 (today)
Off to find breakfast! I think I am finally all better.
